If you live in Washington the GOP may not count your vote…
Feb 11th, 2008 | By Jeff | Category: LifeThe State of Washington held a caucus on Saturday. They had record turnouts and by late Saturday evening the vote counts started rolling into the media. Once they got to 87.3% of the vote the Washington State GOP decided to stop counting votes and declared John McCain the winner. Oddly, the difference between Jon McCain and the second place candidate were only around 200 votes.
I admit I am no legal or political expert, but when a vote is this close the last thing you do is stop counting and call the race. Almost 13% of the votes in Washington are being ignored. So if you voted in Washington the GOP might be saying your vote doesn’t count.

This is America, and every vote must be counted!
UPDATE: Luke Esser has begun the vote counting again in Washington. They have now counted 93% of the votes and Huckabee has gotten a bit closer to McCain. However, Luke Esser also made the following comment to The Seattle Times.
“Esser said Sunday that the Republican Party was going to try to get as “close as we can to 100 percent” in the vote count. But Esser doesn’t believe counting more votes will change the outcome.” - The Seattle Times
Someone needs to tell Mr. Esser that 100% must be counted, you don’t get as ‘close as you can’, you actually count 100% and then provide the official results. Anything short of that is fraud.

I live in Washington. I went to the caucus and I’ve never experienced anything quite like it. They were in such a hurry to elect delegates. We signed in and there was a column on the form to write in your preferred candidate - which I did - Mike Huckabee. Then when we divided into precincts and they wanted to elect delegates, I asked which candidate was each prospective delegate going to represent. I was told that it didn’t matter because the delegates were “not bound”. They could change their votes once they got to the convention. (huh? - then how would a “winner” be determined? Wouldn’t there be a winner for the caucus? I assumed they would just tally votes for each “preferred candidate” named on the sign in form. Today, Luke Esser is saying he was counting delegates’ for each candidate. What? That’s not what I was told. I feel cheated.
This is the first primary that I have followed, and all I can say is both the Republicans and the Democrats have a really screwed up primary system overall.
And it seems like the State of Washington has a really complicated process that simply does not make any sense, and people in charge of the GOP in Washington are unable to make common sense decisions like -”Count the votes and then announce a winner.”
I am glad that Mike Huckabee is going after them with lawyers. America is sick and tired of corruption. Count our votes, we the people run this country not the politicians!
